***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
( Woodstock, Illinois) – Newly appointed members of the McHenry County Regional Planning Commission announced today the election of Charlie Eldredge as Chairman, Dennis Dreher as Vice-Chairman and James McNutt as Treasurer. These three individuals will be responsible for moving the Commission forward as it works towards its goal of recommending a 2030 Land Use Plan to the McHenry County Board.
“I’m honored to be in a position to help the County move forward and write a plan which will really help to preserve the quality of life in McHenry County,” said Commission Chairman Eldredge.
The Commission also announced the formation of its subcommittees, which will study specific policy issues such as agriculture, open space, water, community character, economic development, infrastructure and intergovernmental coordination.
Each subcommittee recently formulated specific goals and objectives which have been forwarded to the full Commission for consideration. Once the goals and objectives have been reviewed by the Commission, the County Board will provide input and consent to aid the Commission in its work.
In the coming months, the subcommittees will be meeting with municipalities, townships, special interest groups, citizens and other interested parties, for input regarding strategies to assist in carrying out goals and objectives. The Commission has been given 24 months to complete the Plan.
“One of the goals of this planning process is to be as inclusive as possible. We want to engage experts and novices, farmers and conservationists, developers and municipal officials. We want a plan that’s inclusive from its conception to its adoption. We hope that this kind of participation will demonstrate that the resultant plan has broad support, helping to secure its ultimate adoption by the County Board,” said Dennis Dreher, Vice-Chairman.
Soon, the Commission will announce the launch of its website which will allow citizens to track progress, read meeting agendas and minutes, and to learn how to participate in the planning process.
