Intergovernmental Coordination Subcommittee

Meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m.

Subject Area Focus:

The focus of the Intergovernmental Coordination subcommittee is to provide a common forum for the assimilation of information from all levels of government in McHenry County and adjacent jurisdictions. The subcommittee will coordinate with other committees of the McHenry County Regional Planning Commission to accept input from all levels of government on all policy areas that will affect the region over the next 23 years, by identifying potential issues of regional importance, and discussing the cost benefits associated with those issues such as traffic, water and growth.

The Planning Process:

The Intergovernmental Coordination subcommittee will reach out to the community through elected officials, community staff and residents with written correspondence, surveys, townhall meetings, digital interaction and other venues. Once the subcommittee has gathered the appropriate information, subcommittee members with evaluate the data and present the same to the McHenry County Regional Planning Commission. The data will be evaluated in light of all other information received by the RPC and will be incorporated into the 2030 Land Use Plan with an emphasis on a regional outlook and focus. It is the hope of the RPC that this subcommittee will be the impetus for a regional wide planning group, which will help guide planning for future generations.

1. Encourage and promote individual community identities.

2. Promote coordinated plans between neighboring municipalities, Townships and the County.

3. Encourage municipalities to enter into boundary agreements.
